Hi there, my name is Janice. I am excited to be joining the DWSP team. I grew up in Singapore and have lived/studied in a few different countries – Singapore, United States, and Australia.
I grew interested in speech pathology after volunteering with a children’s programme in Singapore, where I met a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder and saw the growth in the child over my time as a volunteer there. I then pursued my Masters of Speech Pathology at La Trobe University, Melbourne and went back to Singapore upon graduation. My passion and interest have always been in the paediatric space and worked mostly with children with different learning needs, ages 7 years and below.
After some years of working in Singapore (as well as after Covid), I decided to move back to Melbourne in 2022 to explore and gain a new perspective both in work and life in general. Before DWSP, I was a mobile therapist with another organisation working across homes, kindergarten/childcare and school settings. During this time, my experience expanded to include school-aged children.
In my free time, I enjoy catching up with friends (and their dogs!) whenever possible, exploring different parks around Victoria, or going for a walk in the city from time to time and exploring new dining places. I have recently taken an interest in gardening and am still in the research/decision phase of deciding what to plant in the backyard!
